6 or 12 inch colored tubes along with a inverter power source designed specifically for automotive use. Each power source is waterproof and capable of handling the voltage swings of an automotive power source. Beware of cheaper of alternatives designed for computer use, they are not able to withstand the normal operating voltage of a car and fail, possibly causing a serious fire. CCFL differs from popular LED tubes in that they are much brighter (21,000-40,000mcd compared to a LED max of 10000mcd) and emit light in 360 degrees flooding interior and extreior areas with rich deep and color. LED tubes only have a max viewing angle of around 90 degrees leaving a thin line of dimmer light. Tubes and inverters are rated for 10,000 hours of use, for years of reliable lighting.
